Find a Home Builder in OKC You Can Actually Trust

60 years of building custom homes on Oklahoma land. Fixed pricing. Full transparency.

Choosing a Home Builder in Oklahoma City Is Harder Than It Should Be

Oklahoma has almost no regulation of the home building industry. Anyone with a pickup truck and a tape measure can call themselves a builder. There are hundreds of options in the OKC metro, and most of them will quote you a misleading price per square foot, hand you a list of “standard features,” and hope you don't ask too many questions.

We think you deserve better than that. Building a home is the biggest investment most families make in their lifetime. You should know exactly what you're getting, exactly what it costs, and exactly when it'll be done — before you sign anything.

That's why we do things differently.

What Makes Turner & Son Different

Fixed-Price Contracts

We don't do cost-plus. We plan every detail of your home upfront, give you a number, and that's the number you pay. If lumber prices spike 40% after we sign, that's our problem — not yours. We've been doing this long enough to price accurately.

Build on Your Land

We don't own neighborhoods or develop lots. We build on YOUR property — whether that's 5 acres outside Edmond or a lot in Norman you inherited from your grandmother. Your land, your home, your rules.

38-Week Build Time

Custom doesn't have to mean slow. Our refined process — built over 60 years of central Oklahoma building — delivers your home in 38 weeks from slab pour. That's faster than most semi-custom builders.

We Build Homes Others Won't

Some builders won't build below 2,500 square feet because they can't build efficiently enough to profit on a smaller home. We've built homes of all sizes — because our process is disciplined enough to deliver quality regardless of square footage.

Questions About Building in OKC

What should I look for in an OKC home builder?

Look for a builder with a long track record in central Oklahoma, fixed-price contracts (not cost-plus), strong banking relationships for construction loans, and a willingness to listen before quoting. Ask about their minimum square footage — a builder who won't build smaller homes may lack the precision and discipline to build efficiently at any size.

How is building a custom home different from buying new construction?

New construction in a neighborhood gives you a finished product with limited choices. Building custom means your home is designed from scratch around your family — your land, your layout, your materials. You'll need a construction loan instead of a traditional mortgage, and the timeline is longer, but the result is a home that's genuinely yours.

Is it cheaper to build or buy in Oklahoma City?

It depends on what you're comparing. Per square foot, production homes in neighborhoods can be cheaper upfront. But custom building on your own land eliminates lot premiums, HOA fees, and the compromises that come with stock plans. Many of our clients find that building custom costs less than they expected — especially when they're not paying for a developer's profit margin on the land.

What's a construction loan and how does it work?

A construction loan is a short-term loan from a bank that funds the building of your home. You pay interest-only during construction. When the home is complete, the construction loan converts to a traditional mortgage. You'll typically need 10-20% down based on the appraised value. We work with several Oklahoma banks that specialize in construction lending.

Do you build in [specific OKC area]?

We build throughout the OKC metro and surrounding counties — Oklahoma County, Cleveland County, Canadian County, Logan County, Pottawatomie County, and more. If you have land within about an hour of Oklahoma City, we can likely build on it.
